Parador - Villafranca del Bierzo
The fully renovated Parador de Villafranca del Bierzo reopened its doors on December 1, 2010.
The new Parador de Villafranca del Bierzo is situated at the entrance to the city, in the upper part, around 350 meters from the N-VI highway. Villafranca is located at km 406 of the N-VI (Madrid-Corunna) with a well-maintained and spacious access road from the highway which runs past the Parador and continues to the main square.
The Parador building is clad in stone and slate in the building style of the region and neighboring Galicia. The windows of its comfortable rooms offer the best views of the northeastern El Bierzo region, the southern Ancares mountains and Piedrahita del Cebreiro Pass. The Parador has 51 double rooms, 20 with a double bed; 3 junior suites, 2 with a sitting room; 2 handicapped-accessible doubles; and 24 doubles, of which 217 offers lovely views of Villafranca del Bierzo, with 202 located in the tower facing south.
The interior of building conveys the elegance, status and comfort of a custom-designed contemporary building with a large restaurant, café, and lounge for registered guests, a wonderfully pleasant spot for gathering and chatting. The new multi-purpose function rooms created with the recent refurbishment make it possible to combine their use with the guest patio.
The Parador offers seasonal swimming pools, one with a sauna and ice fountain.
For conference tourism and all kinds of social events, we have a new partitionable multi-use function room with a total area of approximately 280 m2 and the option of dividing it into smaller rooms.
The Parador has a new parking area with space for 40 vehicles, making guests' stay more convenient. It serves as an example of a sustainable facility, designed using advanced concepts in energy consumption, such as biomass and solar panels. In short, the renovated Parador de Villafranca del Bierzo will set the standard for tourism and gastronomy in the El Bierzo region as both a tourist location and a gathering place for celebrations and events.
